We are a rural, architecture family practice rooted in the countryside, with a genuine love for barns, vernacular buildings and the landscapes they sit within. Most of our work is with landowners, farmers, estate managers and rural business owners who want to make thoughtful, long‑term improvements to the places they already have — whether that’s a barn conversion, a diversification project, a wedding venue, a heritage structure or a wider estate plan.
Our practice is based in the Cotswolds, and much of our work sits within AONB and other sensitive rural landscapes. We understand how these places function, how they’ve evolved over time, and how planning and heritage policy shape what is possible. That understanding runs through everything we do.
We bring strong technical ability, clear communication and a trusted network of rural consultants and craftspeople — structural engineers, ecologists, heritage specialists, timber framers and conservation trades — who share our respect for countryside buildings and the care they require.
Every commercial project begins with a phone call and a free site visit. We walk the land or buildings with you, listen to what you’re hoping to achieve and give honest early guidance on feasibility. After that visit, we send a clear written summary of what was discussed, any assumptions about your brief, your responsibilities as a client, the roles we can fulfil and a stage‑by‑stage fee proposal tailored to your project.
We work one phase at a time, only moving forward when you’re ready. That gives you full control and flexibility — whether you want early exploration or full support from first sketch through to handover. The same architects stay with your project throughout, carrying the understanding built in those early conversations into planning, technical design and construction.
We understand the commercial realities of rural businesses. Closing a venue or farm building affects income, so we plan carefully within agreed operational windows and work tightly to minimise disruption and downtime. Our early advice is practical and realistic, shaped by working in sensitive rural environments where AONB policy, heritage constraints and local planning relationships matter.
What sets us apart is simple: we know rural buildings, we understand rural businesses, and we care deeply about the places and people we work with. Our designs are shaped around how a building will actually be used — guest flow through a wedding venue, staff movement on a working farm, or the long‑term operational needs of a diversifying estate — ensuring every project is both beautifully designed, genuinely fit for purpose, works well and stands the test of time.
